Mary E. Wassmer 75 of Reeders died on Tuesday Feb. 14, 2017 in St. Luke’s Hospital Monroe Campus. She was the loving wife of John W. Cook Jr. Born in Paterson, N.J. she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice VanNess.
Mary was a resident of the Reeders area for the past 34 years and prior to that she resided in the Morris County, N.J. area. She was employed as a butcher at the Food Towne Supermarket in Haledon, N.J. for 20 years. She was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her husband John she is survived by 3 sons: John W. Cook III and his companion Sandy of Reeders, James Cook of Paris, TX. And Edward Cook of Sidney, Australia ,a step-daughter Lisa and husband Antione and her children Levi, AJ, and Khloe and 2 step-sons Tommy John Cook and Joseph Mackagay, a sister Margaret DeKnight and a brother Richard VanNess and grandchildren: John W. Cook IV, Angelina, Nicole, Christopher, Victoria and Tesse, and great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by a daughter Debora Cook.
Memorial services will be held on Friday Feb. 17, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home Inc. 23 North 9th St.Stroudsburg, Pa. with her stepdaughter Pastor Lisa officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the time of the services at the funeral home.
