Mary Neri age 100 died on Friday July 21, 2017 at the home her daughter; Linda Foote surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Anthony J. Neri who died in 2006. Born on July 18, 1917 in Philadelphia, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine (Grande) Romualdo.
As an adult she was a supervisor in a hosiery mill where they made silk stockings. During WWII she was an air raid warden in her neighborhood. After moving to New York around 1950 she spent the majority of her life as a housewife and mother. She enjoyed her ladies clubs where they socialized and made different crafts and oil paintings.
Mary was a resident of the Stroudsburg area for the past 24 years and prior to that she resided in the Queens, New York area. While living in New York she was employed as a sales clerk in the gourmet food department for Alexanders Department Store for 20 years. She also enjoyed working during the 1964 World’s Fair in the Israeli Pavilion. Mary was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Stroudsburg, and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women’s Auxiliary.
Mary lived her life by the Golden Rule “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” She was kind to everyone and loved being with her family.
She is survived by a daughter Linda Foote and her husband Donald of Stroudsburg and a granddaughter Loren Marie Revitt and her husband Chuck of Wilkes Barre, and 3 great grandchildren: Christen, Rebecca and Charles III
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday July 25, 2017 at 9:30am from St. Luke’s Catholic Church 818 Main St. Stroudsburg, Pa. with Fr. Carmen Perry as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Laurelwood Cemetery Stroudsburg, Pa. There will be a viewing from 8:30am until the time of the mass at the church. The Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home Inc. 23 N. 9th.St.Stroudsburg is in charge of the arrangements.
