Angelo Calvin Matlock was born on March 9, 1985 to Rita Woodard and Angelo Edwards, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He departed this earthly life on Monday, February 12, 2018.
Angelo was affectionately known as A.J. He was given the nick name A.J. by his late great-grandmother Blanchie Mathews Vaughn.
A.J. received his education at the East Stroudsburg South High School of East Stroudsburg, PA. A.J. professed a hope in Christ at an early age, and was baptized by the late John L. McClain of Grace Temple Baptist Church, in Newark, NJ. After moving to Edison, NJ, A. J. became a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Metuchen, NJ under the leadership of Rev. Ronald Owens.
A.J. leaves to cherish his memories, his Fiancée Gracie Lopez of Scranton, PA; his mother, Rita (Alfred) Woodard of E. Stroudsburg, PA; His father, Angelo Edwards of Little Rock, AR; His children, Jameek Matlock, Angelo Matlock Jr., Antonio Matlock, Cameron Matlock, and Rahcere Tucker. His sisters, Tiffany (Devin) Britton, of Newport News, VA; Angel Currenton, Ashley Finks, Maya Edwards and Destiny Edwards of Little Rock, AR. His brothers, Brandon Gibson of Chicago, IL; Xavier Payton of Minneapolis, MN; Mackel Edwards; Javon Edwards of Dallas, TX; Elijah Edwards of Brinkley, AR; and Jordan Edwards, of Little Rock, AR. His grandmother Clay (Colbert) Beets, of Cedar Rapids, IA; His grandmother Verlene Broughton of Fordyce, AR; His great-grandmother Ola Lawson of Fordyce, AR. His grand-Godmother, Ida Bishop of Newark, NJ and a host of Aunts, Uncles, a niece, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday Feb. 24, 2018 at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home Inc. 23 N. 9th.St.Stroudsburg, Pa. for a memorial service that will begin at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Pastor Cornelius Hill Officiating.
